<2nd Part Here>

<1st Part Here>

Well, what can I say. Took me long enough to work on that Cake vs. Pie thing, but now I’m back to KMS. This update had 4 major changes:

  • Archer Revamp

PQ Revamp

Every single PQ in MapleStory was completely renewed in this update.

As a sign, the Dimensional Mirror was completely renewed.

Old:

New!

When you click on it, there’s something else that’s new.

The PQ thumbnails have a different, much thicker highlight. Also, if you hover a PQ thumbnail, you can see its info.

The level requirements also changed. Lookie here:

Dragon Rider: Level 120+
Resurrection of the Hoblin King: Level 120+
Forest of Poison Haze (Ellin Forest PQ): Level 70+
Romeo and Juliet: Level 70+
Lord Pirate (Pirate PQ): Level 70+
Remnant of the Goddess (Orbis PQ): Level 70+
Moon Bunny (Henesys PQ): Level 20+
First Time Together (Kerning City PQ): Level 20+
Dimensional Crack (Ludibrium PQ): Level 20+

There was a common consumption because of the recommended levels (for example, Romeo and Juliet is 70~119). It doesn’t mean anything. All it means is that it’s RECOMMENDED, you don’t have to be within that level range. You have to be, however, at least at its minimum level.

In addition, there were 3 new PQ’s.

The Curse of the Ice Knight: Level 30+
Kenta in Danger: Level 120+
Prison Break: Level 120+

Meh, those 4th jobber get everything nowadays. Since I’m not in those levels yet, I only got to try the Curse of the Ice Knight PQ, which I’ll talk about as I go on.

But anyway, the new PQ’s are all about killing. I’ll start with Kenta in Danger.

There are 4 stages to this PQ. Very simple and yes, you can swim in this PQ! Oh and P.S. – All the monsters can swim in this PQ.

All the monsters here are identical to the real monsters in Aqua outside the PQ.

  1. Stage 1 – Kill 11 Squids and 13 Risell Squids.
  2. Stage 2 – Kill 6 Sharks and 8 Cold Sharks.
  3. Stage 3 – Kill 6 Bone Fish, 2 Bloody Booms, 2 Sharks, 2 Squids, and 4 Cold Sharks.
  4. Stage 4 – Kill Pianus (this stage is not in the WZ yet, but that’s what it should be).

Rewards:

Let’s move on to Prison Break. Very simple as well.

All the monsters here are identical to the real monsters in Lionheart Castle outside the PQ.

  1. Stage 1 – Jump quest… Only one person from your party has to reach the portal up top. Click here to see a picture of the tower.
  2. Stage 2 – Kill 6 Grey Vultures and 6 Castle Golems.
  3. Stage 3 – Now this is a maze. There will be 6 identical maps (with different names) in which will be 4 Blood Reindeer, one at each portal of each map. Every time you enter a portal, it will randomly take you to one of the six maps or to the next stage.
  4. Stage 4 – Kill 7 Grey Vultures and 9 Prison Guard Boars.
  5. Stage 5 – Same maze as in Stage 1.
  6. Stage 6 – Kill 4 Prison Guard Boars and 4 Prison Guard Rhinos.
  7. Stage 7 – Kill Ani (not in the WZ yet, but that’s what it should be).

Obviously, I’m not 120+ yet so I can’t show you any videos. However, I can show you videos of others~

Now, there was one more PQ which I did get to try out. The Curse of the Ice Knight PQ.

The PQ is EXACTLY like the Resurrection of the Hoblin King.

Instead of the Hoblin King, there’s a little Ice Knight. You have to protect it from wolves (well, fangs).

You have to lead it through two stages without it dying. You have 20 minutes (although you’re not going to use them, the PQ shouldn’t take more than 3 minutes really), and it’s actually quite hard to keep it alive. On each there are 20 spawn points of wolves, and the wolves ALWAYS spawn on the Ice Knight, so you have to be really close to him. Then, there’s a boss (the Ice knight).

The Ice Knight always goes in the same pattern obviously, which is:

Just lead it to the end and,

As mentioned, there’s a boss at the end~

No that’s not me who leveled, but I did get some nice EXP! When you clear this stage, you get 128,669 EXP! 4% for me at 102, but hey, it’s recommended for level 20~69, which would be a whole level! I did level up from one of the PQ’s though, just read on~

I recorded it all and made a video!

Changes to Existing PQ’s

I talked a very tiny bit about existing PQ’s, and instead I went on explaining what everyone wanted to hear, the new PQ’s. But aside from the new PQ’s, I got to try some of the existing PQ’s!

I tried all the ones that were available for me. Unfortunately, I could only do it when KMS was crowded so I lagged like hell… I’ll try to get a video of that as well ASAP (the lags just ruined the video).

Until then, I’ll tell you all the [positive] changes.

Changes to All PQ’s

I might still show those around (to show how they’re used in the specific PQ), but I’ll tell you right now anyway.

  • Every PQ can only be done 10 times a day unless otherwise specified.
  • EVERYTHING that requires dropping/hitting a reactor was replaced by invisible NPC’s (I’ll definitely show this on every PQ).
  • New timer thing!

The bar is how much of the PQ you completed.

  • Jump quests made easier, only one person from your party has to finish them and also there are automatic marks.
  • You get no EXP from any stages but the final stage (except monsters).
  • Most got new, awesome rewards! NOTE: ALL the rewards are UNTRADEABLE and UNKARMA’ABLE. The bottom line says how many PQ’s you have to do to get it. The first number in the sentence tells you the amount you’ll get (which is 1) and the second number tells you how many PQ’s you have to finish.

Moon Bunny PQ

Woops! I didn’t keep track of the EXP, lol.

  • No more plants. Instead, you have to kill Pigs/Ribbon Pigs.

  • As you can see in the picture above, there’s a new seed! Moonlight Flower Seeds.

  • Wasn’t planting/dropping items in PQ’s annoying? Well, they got rid of that on every PQ and replaced it with invisible NPC’s, including HPQ~ Just pick up the seed, and click on the NPC to plant.

  • Big HP bar to the Moon Bunny~

  • Rice Cakes (or whatever it’s called) go directly to the system, not the leader. Also shows you how many you have.

  • New rewards (You get the old rice hat for doing the PQ 10 times and the new one 100 times)!

  • Throughout this PQ, only one person needs to enter the portals to go to the next stage.
  • Passes go to the system. You can see how many passes you have too.

  • Second stage changed.

  • King Slime drops a new item, Fluffy Liquids, which the whole party will get no matter who looted it.

  • 15 of those Fluffy Liquids can be exchanged for a new reward!

EXP Info: No EXP throughout the PQ (aside from monsters), but you get some EXP at the end.

  • Invisible NPC was added in stage 2 where the bottle things were supposed to be dropped.

So basically, you can kill the monsters (instead of luring them), pick the bottles up, click on the NPC, and you can get your [required] bottles dropped!

  • Remember having to get 4 bottles and drop them on the plant at the right, one-by-one, on that same stage? Well, they got rid of that also.

  • Then, the stage after that, I dc’ed. LOL, I’ll try to cover that ASAP. Until then, new rewards!

Romeo and Juliet PQ

EXP Info: No EXP throughout the PQ (aside from monsters), but 559,432 EXP at the last stage.

  • Stage 2, the stage in which you need to kill all the monsters, was changed. Now, it shows how many monsters you have left to kill.

  • You do not have to drop anything on the beakers in the 3rd stage, you only have to click the invisible NPC.

  • On the 4th stage, the doors have invisible NPC blah blah blah. Also, I’m not sure if you can do that before this update but, the door stays open and everyone can do the jump quest.

  • The jump quest became easier. Instead of having to write your combination over and over, once you get the correct platform, it highlights it for you! Also, only one person from your party has to complete it for you to go to the next stage.

  • New rewards!

Other Changes

    • Nautilus Harbor was changed (for a future new job! Read on…), it now seems like it’s under construction:

Click on the mini-maps to see the full map!

Before Jump! [3rd]

After Jump! [3rd]

  • UI additions!

From top to bottom: Quests, Events, G Potions, PC Room, and Pot items (the items you can grow, which came after the second update of Chaos).

  • New party search (obviously)…

Left -> People in a party which can recruit you. Right -> People not in a party which you can add.

  • New notifications when you level up (to put in your SP/AP).

  • New medal window UI.

Sorry I didn’t use my own picture, I have a really lame collection :O. You, along with other players, can see them all. You can also sort them by name/date, throw medals away and still able to get them back in the future (you’ll need to pay, though).

  • New Cash Shop item – Share Name Tag. It’s just like SOK, makes untradeable things tradeable. Note that it only works for certain items, actually only one so far (which I’ll discuss in the “Events” section).

Events

I’ll keep this short, since there aren’t too many events.

Saint Saver Stone Event

I’m sure you have seen those purple rocks all over the place. The way you get them is by talking to Cassandra.

She’ll give you a Saint Saver Stone and a Saint Saver Locator.

The Saint Saver Locator can be toggled on/off (leave it on… It’s stylish).

The medal thing will update in accordance of how many days you’ve completed:

0~6, 7~9, 10.

What’s the point of the rock? Basically, Cassandra will also tell you where to hunt based on your level.

Go there and start hunting.

You’ll see that you’ll start building combos:

For each attack you get a combo. Do not worry, your combo will NOT drain/go to zero if you pause in the middle.

All you need is 500 combos.

A free buff (haste) + sick effect! And it lasts for quite a bit of time!

Also, there’s another part to this quest. Ergoth may spawn in those maps.

Ergoths’ stats:

It has a chance of dropping Evil Spirit’s Box:

Possible rewards:

Of course, the rewards are mostly pots…

PQ Event

After each PQ you do, you get a reward. After doing…

1 PQ, you get 50 Elixirs.

2 PQ’s, you get a Mysterious Order Book.

3PQ’s, you get a bag to store your PQ items.

Attendance Event (part of the Saint Saver Stone event)

Just log in and do the Saint Saver quest (for the buff) and you’ll get:

  • 3 Days – 200 Power Elixirs.
  • 4 Days – 1 Mysterious Order Book.
  • 5 Days – 1 Vicious Hammer 50%.
  • 6 Days – 1 Horsey mount!
  • 7 Days – 3 Enhancement Scrolls.
  • 8 Days – 3 Potential Scrolls.
  • 9 Days – 3 Vicious Hammers 50%.
  • 10 Days – New earrings – STR/DEX/INT/LUK + 3, HP/MP + 200, Speed/Jump + 10, Accuracy/Avoidability + 100, 80 Magic DEF, +40 on every personality traits.

Sigh, reminded me to also go on GMS for the attendance event. I think I might be able to get those earrings^, but unfortunately, they are not tradeable UNLESS you have the new Cash Shop item (and I don’t think I’ll have NX in KMS for a while -_-“), Share Name Tag (discussed above).

Maple Happy Day

May 28th, June 4th, and June 11th are Maple Happy Days. You’ll get:

3 Saturday Blessings – 1.5x EXP on Saturdays (last for one hour each).
3 Sunday Blessings – 1.5x EXP on Sundays (last for one hour each).
50 Power Elixirs.

Archer Events

Same exact events as the Mages’ and Warriors’. I’m not even going to bother to look into them. You can look them up on my first Jump! guide.

Hints on new jobs

Nothing too crazy now, but hey, more hints!

As Nexon previously mentioned, there will be a new archer hero. In this patch, they added a quest called “Party Quest Challenge!” (which I explained above). Every quest has info about the required jobs, and so does this one. Except, we’ve never seen some of those ID’s:

So what we’re seeing here:

  • New Archer Legend.
  • New Pirate Adventurer (Dual Gun/Knuckler anyone?).
  • New Warrior Resistance.

We already knew about the Archer Legend coming, and it will probably be the first one to be released. The one after that will be the Pirate Adventurer, since, as I said before, they changed Nautilus Harbor.

In addition, there’s a new weapon to prove that the Archer Legend is coming, and not only that but give us info about it.

The weapon has no name, and it has a new weapon type called “dualBow” (which is not even defined anywhere). The only pictures that show the dual bow are the ones from the shoot, stab, and swing animations. And there’s only one for each! The rest are the pictures of a level 10 gun…

<- Shoot

<- Stab

<- Swing

Hehe, Dual Blades all over again. I fear the other new jobs (except the warrior resistance, of course) will be the same.

Hooray I guess? You can still vote in the poll of the other blog post if you want.

That’s it for now… Wow I’m tired, getting really hot and summer is so soon!

Thanks everyone!

  5. whoa, those new PQ rewards are amazing. finally they are worth doing now.

meh at the archer skill changes, and does nexon seriously need to keep releasing new jobs? for me at least, I’d rather have one main that is a high level than dozens of low level chars.

  6. Thanks again, shakar96, I really like the detail of your blog posts, particularly the PQs

    Keep up the good work!

  9. l’d like to make a suggestion on how to improve your blog’s appearance. lt’s kind of hard to read and keep focused, for me.

Widen out the middle section of the screen. This way, you can fit more info onto your post, without it being so long. Also, please make your font smaller. lnfo on one skill takes up the whole page, and it gets a little overwhelming.

Other than that, l can’t wait to see how far you plan on taking your blog! l’m excited to be here for the start of your journey. 🙂

    • I totally agree with you. The thing is, I’m kind of new to WordPress and I don’t know how to change that. Thanks for bringing that up though, I’ll try my best to find how.

      • I’m glad you’re taking it into consideration! Please don’t take it negatively though. But, by the sounds of your reply, I don’t think you did at all. It shows a lot about your character – which seems very pleasant!

        Cheers~

      • Maybe but, still, it’s not like they’re getting even STRONGER any time soon , right? and do you think PQs should give you exp and mesos depending on your level instead of the same for all of them? I mean for Ice Knight 1 level per 3 minutes is nice but, 133k won’t give much at level 199. I think that there should be a reason to do more PQs instead of grinding…

      • As much as Nexon tries to encourage PQ’s, they will not do that. I mean, people would finish LPQ a billion times a day because they’re high leveled and level like crazy.

  11. I have a question, do you have to do the quest (buff one) or just log in?
i mean if i dont want the buff i still have to do it for the 10 days prize??

    • You have to do the quest everyday to get the buff and yo need to get the buff on 10 different days. The reward really sucks by the way, there’s no Weapon/Magic ATT bonus from those earrings.

  13. I have a question that many of us probably have.
Can you tell us the number of completions required for some of the PQ rewards? Especially those new eye accessories. I am very curious about that.

  23. You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation however I in finding this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely large for me. I’m having a look forward on your subsequent submit, I will try to get the hang of it!
