KMST v.1.2.435 ~ Luminous, the Mage Hero!

UPDATE: Except for videos & skill builds, DONE!

So, the final hero is revealed! Luminous, a new mage hero, completes the 5 heroes that fought the Black Mage. Now that you think about it, a pirate hero could not exist because pirates weren’t one of the original heroes. In fact, pirates were only added to GMS on v.62 (data at v.56. How do I know this on top of my head? Private servers).

It seems like the heroes really do spell M.A.P.L.E. as we predicted! Mercedes, Aran, Phantom, Luminous, and Evan! Awesome, so that’s all the 5 heroes. I guess the Maple Story should end now…

Well, until that happens, just enjoy the new job. It’s actually pretty fun, I must say, and cool too!

Luminous was one of the 5 heroes who fought the Black Mage. Of the 5 heroes, he’s the last one remaining and he has to fight the Black Mage by himself. The first thing he does is set up the 5 poles to seal him away. Freud, the other magician hero, stops time for Luminous and Luminous manages to seal the Black Mage. However, the seal was not enough to lock away the Black Mage:

The Black Mage managed to slowly break the seal. To stop him, Luminous attacked the Black Mage and absorbed some of his darkness. That’s why, hundreds of years later when Luminous wakes up, his body contains both Dark and Light magic.

When he wakes up, he is completely weak and finds himself in the hands of Rania.

Rania takes him into her home and he pretty much lives with her for a while. One day, however, darkness takes over him…

He causes a small explosion and Rania is injured. He then gets the decision of choosing what side he wants to take:

By the way – The only difference between the two sides is the first job skill that you get, and a small twist to the storyline. Nothing major, however.

If Luminous chooses the light side, he will go and save Rania. He will take her to her house and tell her that he must leave because he can’t control his inner darkness. If he chooses darkness, however, he lets her die and leaves on his own to strengthen himself.

Whatever side he chose, Luminous then goes to train on his own and ask people in Ellinia for help to find out how he can get his Aurora, the orb that gave him light power. He finds out that he has to go to his home town, Serenity, where his old friend, Beuwon, has been holding it for him for the past hundreds of years!

Beuwon (who is evil if you chose darkness) gives him his Aurora back and he regains his strength. However, he is still weak and needs to train before he can face the Black Mage. He begins his journey to get stronger and join the other heroes in facing the Black Mage once again!

As for the actual class, the character creation screen is unique.

There are only 2 types of hairs and 2 types of eyes (for males, at least). The hairs you can choose from are:

You start off with this outfit, and yes, it does come with a cape!

Notice that the job uses a new weapon called Shining Rod. Later on, when you advance, you’ll also get an Orb.

Notice how it doesn’t require LUK. As you will read later on, secondary stats were removed (except for Empress equipment. However, this class doesn’t even require LUK at ALL)!

The orb will follow you wherever you go. You can unequip it, but you need it for almost every skill. So don’t unequip it.

You get one at every advancement, but they don’t have stats. Speaking of advancements, they have the [now] regular advancements: 1st at level 10, 2nd at 30, 3rd at 60, and 4th at 100.

Also, because he struggles with dark/light magic, this gauge appears at 2nd job.

When you use too many light skills, the arrow will point to the right and you will turn darker to balance your powers out. Well, not really:

It will turn you evil! And ask you to use some evil skills to balance it out.

If you use too many evil skills, however, the gauge will turn blue.

Here it’s not completely blue, because I’m evil :D, but it does the same thing basically. The two also flash your screen (too much evil -> blue outline, other way -> purplish outline).

And, of course, there’s equilibrium when you use both forces equally. You can only unlock equilibrium when you are at 3rd job or higher.

The above are the dark, light, and equilibrium skills. They appear when you use too much of something.

As you will see in the videos, Luminous can talk. It’s pretty similar to Androids who can also talk ^_^.

Beginner

Sunpower
Description: When using light skills, you will get 50% extra damage and recover your HP by 1%.

Level 1: 50% extra damage and 1% HP recovery everytime you use skills of light magic.

Eclipse
Description: When using dark skills, you will get 50% extra damage and you will no MP will be consumed.

Level 1: 50% extra damage and 0 MP consumed everytime you use skills of light magic.

Permeate (Link Skill)
Description: Let light penetrate the enemies and ignore some defense.

Level 1: Ignore 10% of the enemy’s DEF.

Power of Light
Description: Luminous has a unique will, insight, and intelligence. With the power of light, he cannot take in darkness.

Level 1: Insight: Level 20. Will: Level 20. INT: +20. Immune to darkness state.

Light Blink
Description: Move with the lights toward the enemies. In towns, you will be instantly teleported to a random location.

Level 1: MP Cost: 40, moves to the most distant enemy. However, in town, you’ll be teleported to a random location on the map.

Spectral Light
[Same as the 3rd job skill, most likely for the tutorial]

Equilibrium
Description: You have a higher chance to stun the enemy, all damage dealt on you is reduced to 1, cooldowns are ignored, 1% of your HP is recovered when you use light skills, and no skills require MP when you are in this state (equilibrium).

Level 1: 50% chance to stance the enemy, All skills deal 50% more damage. Equilibrium skills have 100% additional damage. Cooldown is not applied, MP is not consumed, and 1% HP is recovered when using light skills.

  • 3rd job is now at level 60 and 4th job is at level 100. Except for Cygnus Knights and Evans, of course… 5th job, huh?
  • As a result of that^, many new skills had their max levels changed. Their stats did not change, however, so I won’t cover that. However, Phantom was nerf’ed:

A 30-second cooldown was added.

Ultimate Drive
Damage Decreased by 10% (130% at max level -> 120% at max level).

Noir Card
Damage Decreased by 20% (220% at max level -> 200% at max level).

Twilight
Damage Decreased (600% at max level -> 450% at max level).

Aria’s Prayer
Damage Bonus Decreased (30% at max level -> 20% at max level).

Card Tempest
Cooldown Increased by 6 seconds (12 seconds at max level -> 18 seconds at max level).

  • 2nd stat removed. It’s only needed for Empress equipment.
  • Because the job advancements changed, EXP for some levels increased:

Level 80, 81, 90, & 91 => +15% EXP.

Level 82, 83, 92, & 93 => +10% EXP.

Level 84, 85, 94, & 95 => +5% EXP.

  • Portals changed:

We are slowly approaching the end, the release of the Black Mage. I can tell; there are too many non-skill changes here…

    i was looking up skills
    it seems to be a magician type
    it have a skill exactly like magicians at first job
    and it has magic booster at second.
    how is this a pirate?

    • Pirates weren’t introduced until more recently, therefore, they are considered “Modern.” So, they couldn’t have had a Pirate Hero, because Pirates didn’t exists back then. It’s like if you go back to before gunpowder, you don’t have any machineguns.

    • Get it right, Evan is the Hero’s successor, Freud was the hero. Freud’s dragon is Mir’s dad.

      On another note…WHERE THE HELL IS THE FREAKING PIRATE HERO. REALLY NEXON? YOU HATE PIRATES THAT MUCH?

      • really dude? Cannoneer just came out in legends and before that was mechanic so pretty much they released 2 pirate jobs in a row. Is that hating on pirates?? If anything they are hating on thiefs. Phantom was the first thief to come out since DB and DB came out before Big Bang so if they should focus on any new job next it should be another thief job

    • are u kidding me?? They just made cannoneer in legends and right before legends was mechanic. Both were PIRATES!! So pretty much they released 2 pirates in a row. How is that hating on pirates?? If anything they are hating on thiefs. Phantom was the first thief to come out since DB and DB was released before Big Bang. If anything they should be focusing on the thief resistance next.

      • Actually if you look at the number of subclasses for pirates it only has three where other classes have 4-5 so it’s kinda reasonable to say they don’t like designing many pirates.

  2. Omg. I finally know what 27xx means now.

    You see, when Nexon wants to make a new hero (mage), they can’t just call it 22xx again, because Evan already used it. So, they just restarted the cycle again.

    Where…

    26xx=Second Warrior Hero
    27xx=Second Mage Hero
    and so on.

    But, if this continues, what would second pirate hero be? 210xx?

    Well, this could change anytime. For now, I just want the storyline and the skills.

    • I don’t think it’s second heroes. Maybe the original heroes weren’t enough to defeat the black mage (hence why we have to fight him again) and that they needed help from others. I’m guessing Luminous is one of them.

    • what was the 2nd warrior hero?
      and for all we know jett is the “2nd” pirate hero that came for revenge on the black mage bcuase his name is actualy burke

  3. Oops, forgot to mention this while reblogging but Luminous’s skills looks like it got affected by the Black Mage’s Curse (hint hint, we must remember the heroes lost their power) somehow…which might explain the presumably random darkness with light skills. Just my personal inspection. 🙂

  4. i still think theres gonna be a pirate hero. this just means 2 heroes for each class. and since Jett is like dragon warrior, THIEF REVAMP!!!

    • Evan didn’t fight the black mage. His dragon is freud’s dragon’s son. Freud was the mage hero and so is luminous. They’re is not going to be a pirate hero they just made Luminous as the final hero.

  5. Not going to lie these animations look really cool,, MUCH MUCH MUCH better than these stupid Jett and Dragon warrior animations. I still can’t believe GMS canceled our thief/pirate revamp for this dum new Jett job what a dissapointment -_-

  6. Mercedes. Aran. Phantom. Luminous. Evan… Pirates are always left out in the action, but it’s all good, we wouldn’t be pirates if we were heroes.

    How Lame. Nexon has favoritism towards mages, like recently with battle mage revamp.

    I regret voting for this stupid KMS character. Jett is pretty much a “pirate hero” I was hoping for, so whatever Nexon ~_~.

      • No excuses. You should at least try harder. Use WORD or other means if you have to. I work in a profession where how well you write/communicate/type represents yourself as a person, your peers, and whatever group/company overall. Again, no excuses. 🙂

      • Rehab, I do not understand why you are taking it so hard. Yes, in your profession, what is written may represent whatever group/company it concerns. However, should this blog be evaluated under the same guidelines you use for your profession? I do not think so. The replies are posted for the people’s enjoyment alone; there is absolutely no need to double-check for grammar/spelling errors as long as the message is clear imo. Of course, it would be better if there were no errors, but using a word processor is unnecessary. BTW, it is not like you do not make any grammar/spelling mistakes at all. I did not look that carefully but I found one grammar error in your comments. i.e. who’s -> whose

  13. the luminous is so awesome, but nobdy remember the 61xx, that number come with the 27xx, maybe that means we going to have other class in this expasion, or it is just for the “exclucise” character.

I do not know where I got this idea, but I was thinking, the heroes of the first lost to the black mage, so now they need reinforcement to win, maybe the pirate hero is reinforcing what they needed, some with the past ruined by the black wings and becomes a hero in modern times to help defeat the black magician, maybe the name of the group is “Maples” may still have a hope for the pirate hero.

      • Nexon are definitly likes mage all above the other jobs…
        thats y they made arkarium’s summons immune to weapon att so ppl will open their favorite job and thats y they make so many elements for this job…
        for short,nexon prefer mages and wants us to prefer them too

  16. Shakar, you stated that you need more exp to level up (as in MAX experience increased) because of the advancement changes, but Max stated that you GAIN more experience while leveling up….. so who’s right?

  17. I find it quite disconcerting that my earlier post was deleted. All I wanted to say was that the pirate revamp is going to be released in the later part of summer in GMS. I was just advising people that should be slow to anger and think rationally before releasing words from their mouth.

    What is up with that?

  18. I noticed in the videos that if you use light skills in light mode or if you use dark skills in sark mode, it doubles the number of hits, like sp, is that true? O.o

    If you remember, pirates are new to the world
    There weren’t pirates back then
    So how could there be a pirate hero, if pirates didn’t exist?

      • not only pirats are “new”…
        at the beginning of the game there were only warriors and magicians and the thives and bowmans where added at the first patches (i think one of them at the 17th patch…)

      • No, but when the pirates came out, they pointed out that Kyrin came from who knows where with technology never seen in this world before

      • What about Testone( not sure on spelling) Kyrins father, he was a pirate and was said he helped in the fight against the Black Mage, plus Kyrins mother, one of the fairies or elf in Ellin Forest was developing a gun and knew combat skills from what I could tell from quests. Just because pirates weren’t playable till later in the game doesn’t mean they weren’t there.

      • I see, however it was in development, by the time that happened, the heroes were already fighting the black mage

    • Means that the invisible boolean of the skill is set to false. Most of them, however, become visible when you advance so don’t worry about that (except the PvP skills which I will remove).

  20. Well now there are all five heroes. M – Mercedes A – Aran P – Phantom L – Luminous E – Evan The reason there isn’t a pirate hero is because pirates weren’t added until patch 0.63 I think it was.

  22. finally a genuinely unique class, not like Jett -the worst job ever if u ask me -just a mix of other jobs skills O.O really? is that the best GMS can make? just mixing skills is something every 9 year old kid can do, anyways im sure start getting ready and buy mage stuff >.<

  25. 5th job will be the combination of 4th job skills of different classes. there will be a new skill system for 5th job that will enable maple to put 2 different 4th job skills together and become a stronger new skill. 5th job skills storyline is about the final battle of black mage.

  28. hey shakar…i have done some math and i think i did it right-
    in 4th job, all the skills toghether require 250 SP but since 4th job is in lvl 100 now, i think u can max all of the skills and still get extra untill lvl 200. (unless there is gonna be a 5th job or something).

  31. What will happen if you don’t balance the usage of dark/light skill?
    Are they going to force you to use dark magic if you over use light magic and vice versa?
