KMST v.1.2.395 ~ Demon Slayer!

What do you know, I come back from work and notice there was a patch in KMST. And it’s finally Demon Slayer~!

This guide will be like my other Legend guides!

Demon Slayer starts at Temple of Time 100 years ago. He has served the Black Magician for many years. However, he suddenly notices that the Black Mage is an absolute ruler and he can no longer serve him. He sees Masetuma, who is also a henchman of the Black Mage. He tells her about what happened that made him think that way (which we learn about later) and goes to face Akylum, one of the Black Mage’s generals.

Just a few days ago, he met with the other generals of the Black Mage. From left to right – Orca (from Mercedes storyline, I didn’t get that far though), Von Leon, Akylum. They were planning to burn his town…

He storms out of there and returns to his house after hearing what they were planning to do, and guess what? It’s in flames. He quickly spots something!

His family all died. His sister, his mom, all got burned by the Black Mage.

Demon Slayer returns to Temple of Time (going back to the beginning). There, he attacks Akylum but achieves nothing. Akylum summons a couple of monsters on him but Demon Slayers kill them quickly.

Akylum runs off and Demon Slayer follows him and enters the door Akylum went through. When he entered the door, the Black Mage was there and the scene from the official video is going on (Demon Slayer fights the Black Mage). However, the Black Mage created an energy ‘egg’ and locked Demon Slayer and Masetuma inside. After hundreds of years, he wakes up and easily cracks the egg. He finds himself in a lab in Edelstein surrounded by two guards, the same rabbits from the Mercedes storyline. He gets so mad at them that he kills them. J is there as well, hiding. J takes him and makes him join the Resistance.

From then on, the quests are for Demon Slayer to seek revenge. He tracks down the Black Mage for the rest of his life to avenge his family’s death. That’s why there are also quests that involve the puppeteer, Orca, and even Von Leon. All of those who betrayed him…

Demon Slayer is a part of the Resistance. It’s the Resistance warrior, so he can equip any warrior equipment and his primary stat is STR (secondary is useless DEX). He starts off at Edelstein, nothing new yet.

^Like Mercedes, you can choose your gender. Kind of weird because in KMS, before Mercedes, you couldn’t choose your gender.

Since this is still KMST, there’s no NPC yet. Mr. Goldstein is there instead to advance you.

Demon Slayers use either 1-Handed Blunt Weapons or 1-Handed Axe. That is along with another item called Force Shield:

Only the DEF bonuses increase when you level the 1st and 2nd job ones… You’ll get one with each job advancement.

So basically, the Force doesn’t change. It will always be 10, it’s just the Force Shields that make it into a higher amount.

You get a Force Shield along with a scepter. Again, it’s not a new weapon type it’s a one-handed mace that’s called ‘scepter.’

They come with a certain face painting (of your choice) and, you’ll get those sick wings (which stay even if you equip a cape)!

What’s really special is that they don’t use MP. Instead, they have another system called Force:

Force…

  • Does not recover every 10 seconds (until you get the Max Force skill).
  • Cannot be put AP into.
  • Cannot be recovered through pots.
  • Does not increase when you level up. You get 30 at 1st job, 60 at 2nd job, 90 at 3rd job, and 120 at 3rd job. That’s the only thing that makes Demon Slayers annoying to play.
  • Can only be recovered when using skills. Each of those orbs will give you one Force:

Not to worry. There’s a 1st job skill that lets you do that powerful attack demonstrated above without consuming any force (it’s your regular attack, like literally your attack key)! And it gets enforced at every job.

Demon Slayer Basics
Demon Jump
Description: Use your Asmodian wings to perform various jumping skills.

Level 1: High Jump: Jump + ↑↑
Double Jump: Jump + →→ or ←←
Glide: Double Jump (press twice)

Death Curse
Description: A chance to instantly kill an enemy you attack, and if the effect is triggered you will restore HP. In addition, when an enemy dies, you may absorb a certain amount of Force.

Level 1: 5% chance to instantly kill your enemy, When instant death is activated 5% HP will be restored, Force will be absorbed when the victim dies.

Demon Fury [Racial Skill]
Description: When fightning bosses, your inner potential will lead to anger and cause you to become more powerful and absorb more Force.

Level 1: +10% damage against bosses, +5 Force absorbed.

Devil Wings
Description: Use your Asmodian wings to move quickly.

Level 1: Speed: 190, Jump: 120

Note: This is a mount which I believe you get at 70. The one you get at 30 is 150% speed:

Demonic Blood
Description: Asmodians are born with a strong Will and overwhelming Charisma.

Explanation: For any member of the Resistance actually, including Demon Slayers, the 1st job skill build is very flexible because you get to max every skill at the end. This one is especially good because you start out maxing Demon Slash which you’ll be using throughout your Slaying-hood and putting one SP into Devil Outsider, your only other active skill for this job. We do not max Devil Outsider yet because there’s no need yet, you’ll still kill monsters quickly anyway. Instead, we max Dark Agility for more speed and jump which is great! Only then you can max Devil Outsider to improve your damage before starting to kill level 20+ monsters. Even though the skill might be fast already, it can be even faster! To do so, we max Demon Booster. HP Increase is maxed at the end to increase your MaxHP, even though it’s high enough already since Demon Slayers are warriors.

Level 2: Force Cost: 25, After moving you can attack up to 6 enemies and deal 214% damage, 51% chance to stun for 1 seconds.
Level 3: Force Cost: 25, After moving you can attack up to 6 enemies and deal 221% damage, 54% chance to stun for 1 seconds.

Description: For a period of time, give damage received back to your enemies and there will be a chance to paralyze the enemy. However, if the enemy’s HP is more than half of its max, you cannot give the enemy the damage back.

Level 1: HP Cost: 70, Duration: 66 seconds, 115% of the damage received will be dealt on the enemy, 33% chance to paralyze the enemy for 1 seconds.
Level 2: HP Cost: 70, Duration: 72 seconds, 130% of the damage received will be dealt on the enemy, 36% chance to paralyze the enemy for 1 seconds.
Level 3: HP Cost: 70, Duration: 78 seconds, 145% of the damage received will be dealt on the enemy, 39% chance to paralyze the enemy for 1 seconds.
Level 4: HP Cost: 70, Duration: 84 seconds, 160% of the damage received will be dealt on the enemy, 42% chance to paralyze the enemy for 1 seconds.

Dark Thrust is used to push monsters so it’s great for training and due to that fact we max it first. Up next is Outrage which is amazing! It will give you 25 ATT and 20% Critical Rate! Soul Eater is maxed right after to ensure you have that powerful skill maxed by level 50. We’re taking a step away from active/passive skills and we’ll now max a buff, Dark Revenge. Explanation: As always, we want to get as much variation with skills as possible so we put 1 SP into Demon Slash Second Reinforcement, Demonic Breath, Dark Judgement, Death Draw, and Bloody Raven, a whole lot of active skill this job! And what do you know, Demon Slash Second Reinforcement is already maxed. Just like in any other job, you have a skill of which you hold the hotkey to deal continuous damage. That skill in this job is Demonic Breath, and it’s a great skill which you will use even in 4th job so we max that first. We go on to maxing Max Force. Not too bad since its max level is 5 and the skill lets you absorb a lot of Force which is perfect. With all that additional force we earn now we can now max my personal favorite skill, Dark Judgement. The skill is great! It deals a great damage on multiple enemies and has a sick animation. I charge up my force and right after use it for Dark Judgement! Now that we got all the powerful skills down, we can move on to improving our damage and overall performance. Concentration is maxed to greatly increase your damage along with your attack speed. Dark Endurance is next which is actually very useful; it doubles your DEF which is good since you already use a whole lot of HP in skills alone. With all those skills we need more HP and Force being healed, so we max Force Guard. Time for more Critical Rate, time to max Evil Touch. We are so close to level 120! We only have two more skills here, Death Draw and Bloody Raven. Death Draw is maxed because it’s more useful; it’s a chain that brings monsters from both sides to you and it’s a very important part of your combination, so maxing it would be useful. Bloody Raven is not as useful, personally I only use it to heal my HP and it’s not worth maxing.

  4. Umm i read on an other blog that they DO use sceptors but they are considerd as BW and they can use 1h axe also speptors are fast(5) BW i think xD

  5. They would be OP in mobs of 8 mostly and that just wont happen in advanced lvl mobs soo to all the ppl saying OP and shiet shut the FK up

    • I kind of agree, you can’t say they’re OP now. It’s WAY too early, Nexon still has to ‘nerf’ them.
      Give it a week and they’ll be average (hopefully for you guys).

      • actually i would be happy if they dont nerf them because right know they need mobs of 8 or 6 and hight lvls monsters like in LHC u wont get mobs that big and that means this dudes wont be able to get to show their full potential mostly…. I think it might be easier to train in old Temple of Time since there we will be actually able to find big mobs…. its almost same thing as BaMs…

    • Storyline is not out yet, yeah they’re different, and the warrior demon hat quest (which is called Episode 1) is not available in KMS but they should get it.

  14. nice builds. I want to see ur 4th jobs one. I only would change maxed draw for maxed raven. Cos at lvl 13 raven has more CD and less HP absorb, but on Draw u only have less damage (not much) and less stun rate. Also i think u will use rush-like-skill more than draw. What do u think? i Havent played a DS yet. Bloody Raven seems useful for potion CD maps.

      • I know Bloody Raven doesnt rush. I was saying that maybe you use Dark Thrust more than Death Draw for pushing enemies and that Bloody Raven is usefull to heal in Potion Cooldown Places like Evil Empress map.
        But now im thinking it again, you have vampiric touch and some other skills to drain hp. They are dispellable tho and doesnt work for a quickly hp boost.

  15. Hey. I got a couple of questions…

    Can the Force Shields be scrolled/potentialed? Coz that might increase their DF.
    So both the scepter & shield come with the character, and don’t require Dex right?

    Is there any way to Karma Scissors either of the equipment?
    Or can it be hunted from monsters? Would be great to get some scepters from monsters to scroll. 🙂

    • For the scrolling, the shields are an absolute nono from what I’ve read, the scepter is just a fast mace, so im guessing it can be scrolled/potentialed. They DO come with, but at the advances, and for the shield, irreplaceable, the weapon, you can use any BW or axe, you aren’t limited to the sceptor. As for Karma’ing, no, they are obtained automatically so woohoo.

  17. Something I can’t help but notice is the “useless DEX” line. This annoys me because of how inaccurate it is since DEX is not useless. For the record, if you are any bit interested in the best equipment in the game (Lionheart set for Warriors, and don’t even say you’d rather have the STR because the set bonus is far greater than that simple STR amount), then you’re going to need to load down on DEX.
    Anywho, your builds are nice, but when GMS get it, I’ll just go with the flow because planning my build never actually works, lol. But for those who prefer to follow builds, those are decent and I would recommend similar builds (I’m defensive, so I would obviously put defensive skills early for my personal build). Your 4th Job build is going to be interesting to see.

    The skill Demon Slash First Reinforcement isn’t automatic the sp distribuition. Its strange that I put my name of MaximumTroll and then I saw in your site that your charater’s name is Troll -.-
    And the question is what time in korean clocks and what day does the maintenance starts and ends?

      • KMS, cuz I started playing now and I want to know if it has regular maintenance( ex: Every wednesday at 6:00 pm)
        And i’m getting an error which I click on the Maplestory.exe and nothing happens. I tried in site and by GL. Do u know that error?

      • Oh KMS, there are no maintenances. Only patches, usually when it’s midnight in Korea.
        Your problem, well, I’m guessing MapleStory.exe is already open. Task Manager -> Processes -> MapleStory.exe, kill it.

Hey Shakar, just my opinion, but I would think Dark Thrust would do 99% of it’s job at lv 1, so instead of maxing it immediately, I’d keep it at 1 and max Mastery (for stable damage), Outrage (for stronger hits) and then Soul Eater for massive damage on the enemies… Well, unless it’s required to max out Dark Thrust for a certain skill… But yeah, I’d max out Dark Thrust in the end, after Physical Training… Again, this is just my opinion and you can make of it what you will… Just throwing it out there

    • I guess you’re right, but to be honest with you that’s the only skill I used throughout 2nd job. I never used Soul Eater because you’d have to stop, stand, and hold a key. Therefore, all I did was Dark Thrust + Normal attacks. Passive skills I saved for later so you can see the differences, but I suppose you can max them before. Actually, I would actually say that after you max Dark Thrust you might want to max Outrage -> Physical Training -> Weapon Mastery. The reason is because Outrage and Physical Training are both maxed level 10 so you’ll notice the differences very quickly. Weapon Mastery, well you feel like you’re just wasting SP.

  23. For your third job build you should definitely put one point into concentration at the start, because +1 attack speed is very useful, and the extra 6% dmg is a nice add-on.

  24. Just a question, i recently went to play KMS again cause i want to try demon slayer but when i try to make a char the demon slayer, mercedes, cannon shooter and even the duel blader arnt creatable and im just wondering why it wont letme make it.

  25. Hey I know this may have been asked before so sorry in advance, but does anyone have an estimate of when the legends update will come to GMS. Is there any pattern in updates like these that might leave one with a good guess?

    • It is the next patch. MapleStory Lifestyle Campaign and Golden temple ends 12/6/11 and are the latest events go (check Fellowship update notes). So using common sense. id say then.

  26. hey shakar, like a previous comment said, why don’t you add a point to concentration in 3rd job, early like at 71, because even at lvl 1 its a nice bonus. Just wondering why your build ignores it until lvl 86.

    • Unless you know you’ll get to a high level and got Von Leon or some other very high-leveled weapons. Then again, if you’re able to afford those weapons, you’re also able to afford DEX equipment.

  27. Shakar, i just noticed this, but you have 5 sp too many on Evil Touch, you put it as 20 points, when its 15 points……. Meaning u can leave raven storm at 18….
