GMS v.1.10 ~ 7th Anniversary!

[Click to enlarge and view the animation]

Well, as I said on my last post, the 7th Anniversary events hit GMS very recently and I promised to cover them.

As expected, the events this year are those that were added to KMS on the last anniversary. Don’t even argue, it’s the SAME EXACT THING. This pattern was always played. In fact, GMS’s 6th anniversary was the same thing as KMS’s 7th anniversary.

Expect the recent anniversary, the 9th anniversary, to come to GMS next year.

Anyway, the events are kind of lame. I mean, back then the whole journal event was new and it was exciting, but now it’s kind of stupid. I’ll go over everything quickly.

7th Anniversary Events

Obviously, many new events were added to celebrate the anniversary. And yes, they are pretty much the same as those of KMS’s 8th anniversary.

Legends Character Creation Event

[May 10th~May 23rd]

Cannoneer, Mercedes, and Demon Slayer have returned! Just click on the button on the banner to make one. You don’t need a character slot to be unoccupied, you’ll be given a new one unless you have 15 characters (in that case, you’d have to delete one).

Cake Boss Invasion

[May 10th~May 31st]

Before I begin, click on the above image (if you have the latest Firefox and it opens in a black background). Notice the URL. It’s a picture by Nexon and it was posted here. 2nd grade editing, huh Nexon?

Anyway, the cake boss spawns in Henesys and Leafre every 12 hours. Kill it and you’ll get pots/buffs. Hurray.

Lucky 7th Mapleversary Event

[May 10th~May 31st]

Remember this book from last year? I mean, back then it was a new concept but now it’s just cliché.

Well, you know the drill. You have to choose your Rising Star: Valerie, Lilin, and Cygnus. The only difference between the three is that they each give different colors of balloon capes: Valerie, Lilin, and Cygnus give a blue, green, and yellow balloon, respectively. You can always change it if you want.

So, after you choose your favorite girl (why does that sound inappropriate?), you’ll be given the journal shown above. Double-click it and you’ll see this:

Basically, that’s a list of tasks to do. You have to finish all of those tasks 8 times. Note that each task can only be done once a day (well, you can do it multiple times but it won’t count for 1 of the 8 times).

The top 4 tasks are not related to the quests, all you have to do is:

  • Use the Joy Bird Feather or Glittering Joy Bird Feather 8 times. What those do is transform Beryl Maple Equipment (which I will discuss soon) into Crimson Maple Equipment (normal feather: 40% chance of working. Glittering: 100%). You can get it from Inkwell for coins or from the Joy Bird:

Constant damage: 777,777. It has the same rewards as the Star Paparazzi monster I’ll describe later:

The feather, Joyous 7th Scrolls, and Maple Equipment.

Anyway, use 8 scrolls and you’re done.

  • Defeat 8 Joy Birds… Pretty self-explanatory. Actually, when you kill it, it might NOT drop the feather scroll. It can drop 30%/60% scrolls and maple leaves as well. Spawns in every map, not sure if it only spawns during a specific time range.
  • Get an (only 1) orange mushroom mount. You can get 1 from raising the Potted Mini Maple Tree.
  • Raise the Potted Mini Maple Tree 8 times. Yep, it’s that Item Pot thing that you have to feed. It only sleeps for 30 minutes (which was special when it was released in KMS, there weren’t too many other Item Pots. Now every single Item Pot sleeps for 30 minutes), and it may give you the following rewards:

7th Anniversary Coin, Joyous 7th Dark Scroll (but it’s pink!), and 3-day Mount Coupon (including, of course, the Orange Mushroom Mount).

Well, as for the quests, you will get a light bulb but if you want to finish them, you have to go to the Rising Star Hall, which can be accessed through the Dimensional Door:

Inside, you’ll see the 3 Rising Stars, the ones you’ll go to to complete the quests:

What are those quests I’ve been talking about? They are lame ones you have to complete to pull the show together. Self-explanatory, I won’t explain them again like last year. Here’s a list:

[Vocal] You’ve Got Talent! – Get Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Ti-High Do handbells from all monsters.
[Instrument] The Challenge of Orpheus! – Get 8 pages of Orpheus’s Sheet Music.
[Looks] Celebrity Training – You are given a Calorie Counter, and you have to exercise. Kill 200 within your level range.
[Fame] What Do Stars Live For? – 5 Encouragement Placards from all monsters.
[Reputation] The Tabloids Strike! – Get 1 Humiliating Picture Film from Star Paparazzi:

Like the Joy Bird, you also deal a constant damage on him, except it’s 77,777. And, as I said earlier, it has the same drops.
[Dance] Shall We Dance? – Hold Funky Machine for 30 minutes until you get 1 Funktastic Funky Machine.

And by ‘all monsters’ I mean those with levels within the range of 11 levels under or 11 levels higher than your level. And the reward for every quest is 20 Maple Leaves.

Each quest is done one at a time with the exception of the Dance quest, which you can do with any of the others.

Once you complete all of these quests, you’ll get 1 Lucky 7th Mapleversary medal. All Stats +7, MaxHP/MaxMP +77, ACC/Avoid +77, Speed/Jump +7, Battle Mode ATT +2. Still has durability.

And, aside from that, a couple of obvious points:

  • Monsters drop 7th Maple Anniversary Leaves which can be traded for coins (100 leaves = 1 coin). They also drop 7th Anniversary Boxes, which, if you open them, give you Maple Beryl Weapons. The weapons have the same stats as last year’s, so you can just view them here. They are all for level 45. You can then use the feather scroll to turn them into Crimson Maple weapons, which are level 70.

Only items that are not on there are the Hand Cannons, Dual Bowguns, and Canes. Their stats are:

Beryl Maple Cannon
+74 Weapon ATT
+37 Weapon DEF
Speed: Slow
8 slots

Crimson Maple Cannon
+90 Weapon ATT
+43 Weapon DEF
Speed: Slow
8 slots

Beryl Maple Dual Bowguns
+67 Weapon ATT
Speed: Normal
8 slots

Crimson Maple Dual Bowguns
+77 Weapon ATT
Speed: Normal
7 slots

Beryl Maple Cane
+69 Weapon ATT
Speed: Fast
8 slots

Crimson Maple Cane
+85 Weapon ATT
Speed: Fast
8 slots

  • And, as for the Maple Equipment, you can get it from Inkwell:

Or from the Star Paparazzi/Joy Bird. You know the stats from last year, and you can always see it in-game… But, whatever, here’s a list:

  • Beryl Maple Gear– All Beryl gear requires level 45.
    • Beryl Maple Beret: All Stats +3, DEF/M. DEF +57, upgrades 8 unhammered

That’s pretty much it. Such an exciting anniversary.

Other Changes

  • 27 new, GMS-exclusive medals were added. You can tell GMS made those because their required level is 1, something Nexon Korea would never do (always level 0, not 1). They are:
  • Adventurebound: Max HP/MP +30: Stay online for an hour.
  • Thrillseeker: Max HP/MP +50: Stay online for 3 hours.
  • Funhound: Max HP/MP +100: Stay online (not sure how long).
  • Renaissance Mapler: All Stats +3, ATT +2, Max HP/MP +100: Have 15 characters in your account over level 50.
  • Army of One: All Stats +3, ATT +2, Max HP/MP +100: Have 10 characters in your account over level 95.
  • Powermonger: All Stats +3, ATT +2, Max HP/MP +100: Have 7 characters in your account over level 130.
  • Brute Squad: All Stats +4, ATT +3, Max HP/MP +200: Have 3 characters in your account over level 175.
  • The Next Legend: All Stats +4, ATT +3, Max HP/MP +200: Have 1 characters in your account level 200.
  • Easy Rider: Speed +15: Have 10 mounts.
  • Ride Collector: Speed +20: Have 30 mounts.
  • Tiny Legs: ATT +1, Speed +30: Have 50 mounts.
  • Light Spender: All Stats +1, Max HP/MP +150: Use 10 Gachapon tickets..
  • Play to Live: All Stats +2, Max HP/MP +100: Use X Gachapon tickets (not sure how many).
  • Living on Tickets: All Stats +3, Max HP/MP +180: Use X Gachapon tickets (not sure how many).
  • Can’t Live Alone: All Stats +1, Max HP/MP -30: Marry 3 times.
  • Love at Fifth Sight: All Stats +2, Max HP/MP -30: Marry 5 times.
  • Legendary Casanova: All Stats +3, Max HP/MP -30: Mary X times (not sure how many).
  • Pick Up Artist: Max HP/MP +80: Sell 1,000 items to an NPC without logging out (Uh, I think untradeable items).
  • Junk Collector: Max HP/MP +150: Sell X items to an NPC (not sure how many).
  • Walking Warehouse: Max HP/MP +250: Sell X items to an NPC (not sure how many).
  • Antienvironmentalist: Max HP/MP +100: Drop 500 untradeable items.
  • Broken Legs*: INT -1, Max HP +200: ???
  • Aging Gracefully: All Stats +1, Max HP/MP +70: Get plastic surgery 50 times.
  • Bottomless Bag: Max HP/MP +70: Use NX to expand your inventory.
  • Forever Single: LUK -1, STR +2: Never got married.
  • Creature of the Night: STR +7: Log in between midnight and 3 A.M. for 7 days in a row.
  • Scared of the Dark: DEX +7: Log in between 6 A.M. and 9 A.M. for 7 days in a row.

*It’s actually called the Human Cushion Medal: Fall off something and receive damage 100 times. Which can get really annoying but fun at the same time:

Yep, I don’t know about a lot of the medals but those are the medals that were added.

NOTE: Some medals subtract stats. That’s another indication of a GMS-exclusive item.

See, in the above example I am demonstrating me equipping the Forever Single medal. Since singles are unlucky, it subtracts 1 LUK. Before I equip it, I have 18 LUK. After equipping it, however, I have 17.

Stupid I know. Just drop those medals if you ever get them.

  • The Socket System was revamped. First off, Nebulite Boxes now last for 30 days and are much more rare. Also, Bo is useless. Instead, you can buy Alien Socket Creators from NPC’s for 5k. A Gachapon was also added to New Leaf City (waste of money, don’t bother).

Also, a new beginner skill called Nebulite Fusion was added.

What it does is fuse two Nebulites into 1, better Nebulite.

If you still don’t fully understand the Nebulite system, you can read this GM Blog post.

  • Leaf Tornado -> Leap Tornado.

That’s all for this update. Lame update once again. Better than another revamp, however.

  1. “Cannoneer, Mercedes, and Demon Slayer have returned! Just click on the button on the banner to make one. You need a character slot to be unoccupied.”

    This is kind of incorrect.

Actually, as long as you have less than 15 slots, it gives you the new character in a new slot, so it’s kind of like a free slot coupon. I did it, then just deleted the Merc, and now I have 13 character slots instead of 12.

  2. The medal subtraction isn’t stupid, it’s kind of funny. For the Human Cushion one it adds HP and takes away one INT, get it? You probably don’t, and for the Joy Bird you do constant 777,777 damage, for the paparazzi you do 77,777 damage you should fix that.

  3. Actually, only NEW nebulite boxes have that 30 day. And you can check those X and Y values on any character that’s in the lv range to get those medals (ex. Brute squad requires 3 or more lv 175 characters in 1 account)

  4. So it’s a 7th anniversary medal, but on hte medal it shows a 8 ?!
Also, on the bottom right of your blog, it say “9th AnniversarT”….. hmmmm

  5. just so you know, they did not forget the human cushion medal, they misnamed it on their list as “Broken Legs”
Renaissance Mapler: 15 lvl 50+ chars
Army of One: 10 lvl 95+ chars
    Powermonger: 7 lvl 130+ chars
Brute Squad: 3 lvl 175+ chars
The Next Legend: 1 lvl 200 character
