A new patch hit GMST recently and added a new system to GMS, **Familiars**. This is also copied from JMS so don’t get excited.

The system is very much like the JMS system. Along with the addition of the Familiars system, other changes came which I will also discuss!

# Familiars

As I previously said, the system is originally from JMS. Therefore, most of the images you’ll see here are in Japanese because GMS didn’t even translate it yet.

There’s a new tab in your Crusader Codex collection for familiars! So, **what are they?**

Familiars are basically existing monsters that you get to attack for you and give you other benefits.

How do you get them? Well, they drop from monsters just like monster cards! The way I got them, though, is through Cody:

This is for the Tespia server only, so don’t worry about it.

Anyway, once you get a card it will be in your ‘USE’ inventory and it will have a star on it, like this:

When you hover your mouse over it, it’s like a card. It shows you all the benefits you get from the familiar:

*While summoned, you become shadowy.* That means that you turn black when you summon the Black Knight like this:

The red symbol above the monster means that it’s your familiar (also means something else, which I’ll get to later).

Anyway, back to the ‘USE’ item, you need to double click it. It will give you the option to choose a name:

You can call your familiar whatever you want. You can even give it a name that’s equivalent to your character’s name.

Once you finish with that, it will be in your Crusader Codex book:

Note that it expires after 30 days. That’s because, if you noticed on the card, I only have that 1 red ball, or Vitality Orb, in the bottom-right corner. My familiar only has 1 because I used 1 card, but you can always get more from that monster to increase the Familiar’s duration:

1 Orb -> 2 Orbs = 59 days.

2 Orbs -> 3 Orbs -> 89 days.

You can also go overboard with this, add as many orbs as you want:

This will basically reset your Familiar’s duration to 90 days.

You may get those Familiar cards from any of the 711 monsters that are shown at the top^. You also get specific buffs when you summon each:

Also, I forgot to mention this but there’s a small delay on summoning your Familiars. Sometimes, you might get a message like this:

Every familiar has a duration or Vitality. You know you run out of Vitality when your buff is gone. You need to charge up your Vitality in order to summon your Familiar again.

For example, if I use my snail Familiar for 10 minutes and then un-summon it, I’ll need to wait 10 more (or so) minutes till I can re-summon it. When your monster attacks, its Vitality lowers. When it’s back in its cage (the Crusader Codex), it recovers Vitality. You need the Familiar’s Vitality to be fully charged in order to summon it again.

Oh and finally, your Familiars will use skills. Here are the skills they might use:

Rush: Attack with a 60% chance of knocking back 2 enemies.

Lure: Attack with a 60% chance of pulling 2 enemies.

Bark: Attack with a 60% chance of stunning 2 enemies for 2 seconds.

Observe: Attack with a 60% chance of slightly slowing 2 enemies for 3 seconds.

Poison: Attack with a 60% chance of poisoning 2 enemies for 3 seconds.

Charge: Attack with a 80% chance of knocking back 3 enemies.

# Other Changes

- Mercedes data was added! There are no skill names/descriptions/anything yet, though, so I can’t extract the skill table for you.
- Demon Slayer place holders were added, the ID’s are filled with Aran/Battle Mage skills.
- New GM Board thing, basically when a GM gets bored (…my fail humor, bored sounds like board har har o_o) he makes an announcement:

- Halloween events added. Sadly, I don’t know much about them.

Oh and also, in KMS there are also new restrictions to people under the age of 16 (or 18 actually). From 12 A.M to 6 A.M. you people will be forbidden from playing :(.

@Matt, each job has a ID, if you looked to the previous post of Shakar96 (somewhere on his site). There you see the ID number what mercedes and demon slayer has given. I assume the same ID’s which were in KMS were also given in GMST(GMT).

Ahh Monster Familiars, they’re awesome to have, regardless of where it came from…. Only problems I have with them are the monsters that were ripped out of World Tour areas we dont have like Floating Market and Xienming … As for the monster familiar drops, will they be affected by the new exp/drop system in ms? They already seem hard to get from my experiences of slaughtering mutant snails :S
